What is VIPKid?
VIPKid is an online English as a Second Language (ESL) tutoring company. In November 2021, VIPKid changed their platform to include adults in addition to children from all over the world (before November, they catered almost exclusively to China). VIPKid is continuing with their ESL platform but are hoping to include other subjects in the future. As of now, you use VIPKid’s interactive curriculum that includes slides. Typically, classes are one on one and last for 25 minutes.
How much can I expect to get paid and what is the work schedule?
If hired by VIPKid, you will be an independent contractor (self employed) and can expect to earn a base pay of $14 – $18 an hour plus incentives. You are paid via direct deposit once a month. Your hours are totally flexible; there is no minimum amount of hours that you must teach. Currently, the most popular teaching times are Monday through Friday 6 am to 9 am EST and 6 pm to 9 pm EST. Weekend popular times vary but some reportedly have success from midnight EST on.
What are the requirements to work for VIPKid?
You must be a native English speaker legally allowed to work in the US or Canada. You must also have a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in a role as tutor, teacher, coach, mentor or etc. Any time spent working with children counts as experience. Obviously you must have a laptop, Mac or tablet and high speed internet with a speed of at least 25 MBPS. Chromebooks are not compatible with the VIPKid platform. It is also recommended that you have good lighting, a neutral background and headset with a microphone. To see products I recommend, click here. How can I get started?
